Fernando Primo de Rivera

Fernando Primo de Rivera y Sobremonte (1831-1921). Militar y político español, nacido en Sevilla y fallecido en Madrid. Hijo de un ilustre marino y nieto de un virrey del Plata por parte de su madre, intervino en las insurrecciones de Madrid de 1848 y 1866 y obtuvo la Cruz Laureada de San Fernando y el ascenso a teniente coronel. En la II Guerra Carlista, como general en jefe del II Cuerpo de Ejército, tomó Montejurra y la plaza de Estella (1876), lo que le valió el título de marqués de Estella y otra laureada. Al ser proclamado Alfonso XII en Sagunto, se adhirió a la Restauración, siendo a la sazón capitán general de Castilla la Nueva. También lo fue de Filipinas (1880-1883). En 1895 ascendió a capitán general. Fue ministro de la Guerra en 1907 y 1917 y presidente del Consejo Supremo de Guerra y Marina (1920-1921).

Fernando Henrique Cardoso (Portuguese: [feʁˈnɐ̃du ẽˈʁiki kaʁˈdozu] (listen); born 18 June 1931), also known by his initials FHC (Portuguese: [ɛfjaɡaˈse] (listen)), is a Brazilian sociologist, professor and politician who served as the 34th president of Brazil from 1 January 1995 to 31 December 2002. He was the first Brazilian president to be reelected for a subsequent term. An accomplished scholar of dependency theory noted for his research on slavery and political theory, Cardoso has earned many honors including the Prince of Asturias Award for International Cooperation (2000) and the Kluge Prize from the US Library of Congress (2012).

Cardoso was the 10th president of the International Sociological Association (1982–1986).
